Bear Track Hunting Information
Bear Track Hunting has been booking quality hunts in New Mexico since 1987. We are here to serve all your hunting needs, and will try to make your hunt a successful and memorable experience. Unlike many other consultants, our outfitters are known personally. We have hunted with them, assisted them in the field, and been around many of their campfires. We may just show up in your camp to help wrangle livestock and say "howdy". These are seasoned professionals who know how to help you get that special trophy you are looking for. You and your guide, together, will set the style and pace of your hunt. We take your concerns such as terrain and transportation into consideration when planning your hunt. We take great pride in taking quality trophies which means hard work and patience. There will be no pressure from your guide for you to take a trophy that you do not want, or feel is inadequate. All hunts are strictly fair chase.
You will need only to bring your weapon, sleeping bag and appropriate clothing. We suggest you consider the type of game carefully and bring appropriate caliber weapons. If you are not sure please contact us and will we be glad to discuss it with you.
Expert care of your game and capping of all trophies is included in the cost of your hunt. Complete local processing is normally available at an additional charge.
All hunts require a 50% deposit (money order or cashiers check). All hunts are subject to New Mexico sales tax. New Mexico law requires all hunters under 18 years of age to complete a hunter safety course. Hunts include a guide for every two hunters, unless specified as a 1x1 hunt(bear and lion), logging, meals, field care of game and capping of trophy for taxidermist. None of the prices include license fees charged by the Game & Fish Dept. All licenses are obtained through a drawing except bear, lion and turkey, or those using Land Owner Permits.
Our specialty is Gila wilderness bear and lion hunts and customized summer pack trips. Our summer pack trips are conducted May thru August. You will be horseback or on mules. We can either operate from a base camp and ride thru scenic canyons or take a complete pack outfit, packing all our gear on pack mules, spending all day in the saddle and each night making camp under the stars. A client may plan their own trip according to their area of interest.
Summer camps for Boy Scout Troops in the Gila Wilderness can be arranged. The scouts and leaders will hike into camp. All food, equipment, etc. will be packed in and out by the outfitter.
